5 Tips for Decluttering/Organizing Your Makeup
We all have makeup that we haven’t used or seen in years. It is time to organize your makeup so you can actually see what you have. Makeup is not cheap; therefore, we want to get the most out of it. If you are using the same products everyday, you need to get rid of all the products that you aren’t reaching for anymore. Here are 5 tips for how to declutter or organize your makeup to maximize the use of all your products and space.
Take everything out: See what products you are using, which products you aren’t using, and which products are long expired! If you haven’t used a product in awhile because you didn't like it or your makeup style has now changed, get rid of it. Obviously, if it is expired, throw it out because it is not good for your skin and can cause future breakouts and blemishes. Disposing of the products that you do not use, only makes more room for new products.
Swatch your products: If it is not showing up the same way it used to, it is probably expired. If you are someone who keeps a lot of lip products, it is especially important to swatch them. You may not like the color anymore, or you might have multiple products of the same color! This is more of a time consuming process, but it is the only way to tell which products you still want to hold on to.
Clean all of your products: There is no point to decluttering your products if you aren’t going to clean them! Cleaning your products makes it seem like a brand new product. If you have exploded foundations or concealers, it is important to clean them before they ruin other products. Let’s not forget about the obvious fact: Cleaning your products makes them look good!
Make your everyday products easily accessible: If you are someone with a regular everyday makeup routine, it is important to be able to easily grab those products. The products that you only use for certain occasions or big events should not be mixed in with the everyday products. Having everything mixed together only leads to products getting lost and unorganized.
Buy Makeup Organizers: Organize all of your products into drawers. This will allow you to know where everything is. Makeup organizers also present a nice appearance to your desk or vanity. Get a separate organizer to hold your makeup brushes as well. Your brushes should not be mixed in with the rest of your makeup incase there is an explosion of your products. It is crucial to clean your makeup brushes every few weeks to prevent dirt and product build up in them.
